1. About this statement
This statement describes how Recipehutch handles information when you use recipehutch.com. It covers the Recipehutch service, not the independent recipe websites and sign-in providers linked from it.
For questions about your information or to make a privacy request, contact accounts@recipehutch.com.
2. Information you provide
Account information includes your email address, username, sign-in method, and account identifiers. If you create an email account, we store a salted password hash rather than your plain-text password, together with email-confirmation and password-reset records.
Google and Microsoft sign-in can supply your name, email address, account identifier, and profile photo, subject to the provider and your permissions. Recipehutch does not receive your Google or Microsoft password. Microsoft profile-photo access requests permission to read your profile; the app does not request access to your mailbox or contacts.
We also store the profile picture or default avatar you choose, recipe links you import, saved recipes, collections, favorites, cooking notes, ratings, reviews, and preferences. Support messages contain the information you choose to send us.
3. Technical information and activity records
Recipehutch uses session cookies to keep you signed in and security mechanisms to protect account requests. Confirmation and reset links contain short-lived, one-use tokens. Session and verification records are used to authenticate you and prevent misuse.
The service keeps activity records such as sign-ins, recipe imports and saves, collection and review changes, profile-picture changes, password-reset events, and username changes. Administrative username changes include the previous and new names, a reason, and a timestamp. These records help provide support, investigate abuse, and make administrative actions accountable.
Activity records do not contain passwords, session tokens, photo payloads, or the text of your private cooking notes. A note-edit event records that an edit occurred. The site and hosting services may also process IP addresses, request information, and error logs to deliver and secure the service.
4. How we use information
We use information to create and authenticate accounts; send requested confirmation and password-reset emails; import and organize recipes; display profiles and reviews; maintain the public recipe library; respond to support requests; and protect and troubleshoot the service.
An imported recipe can be matched with an existing entry to avoid duplicates. Automated tags and serving adjustments help organize and display recipes. These features do not make medical or dietary decisions about you.
5. What other people can see
Recipes imported from public source links may appear in Discover and be reused by other users. Their original source links remain attached. Deleting a recipe from your personal collection does not automatically delete the shared recipe entry.
Your submitted ratings and reviews appear publicly with your username. Your email address, account credentials, personal collection organization, and cooking notes are not displayed in Discover. Your profile picture currently appears in your own account interface.
Private means not publicly displayed; it does not mean that data is inaccessible to the service operator or infrastructure providers when access is needed to operate, secure, or support the service. Authorized administrators can view account details and recorded activity.
6. Service providers and external websites
Recipehutch uses hosting and email infrastructure, currently through InterServer, to store application data and send account emails. Google or Microsoft processes sign-in information when you choose that sign-in method. Information needed to provide these functions is handled by the relevant provider under its own applicable terms and privacy practices.
Importing a link causes the service to request the source webpage. Loading a publisher-hosted recipe image or a Google-hosted profile image in your browser can send that provider technical information such as your IP address. Following a source link takes you to a separate website with its own privacy practices.
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, protect users and the service, or address fraud and security incidents.
7. Cookies and advertising
The application uses authentication and security cookies. Disabling these cookies may prevent sign-in and account features from working. Signing out ends the relevant application session; Google and Microsoft manage their own sessions separately.
Recipehutch supports advertising code configured by the site administrator. When live advertising is enabled, an ad provider may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser information, and ad interactions, and may use cookies or similar technologies under its own privacy practices. Off mode and layout-preview mode do not run advertising code. Provider-specific notices and choices will be provided as applicable when a provider is connected.
8. Retention, security, and your choices
Account and saved-recipe information is retained while needed to provide your account and the service. Security, support, and activity records may be retained for legitimate operational and legal needs. Confirmation and reset links expire after 30 minutes; expiration prevents their use even if cleanup of a stored record occurs later. Backup copies may remain until the applicable backup cycle completes.
You can edit or remove your saved recipes, notes, collections, and reviews using the available controls. You can change your profile picture and preferences in account settings. Username changes require support. Contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of account information, or to close your account. We may verify account ownership before responding.
Additional privacy rights may apply depending on where you live. Requests are handled under applicable law; some records may need to be retained for legal or security reasons. A request to delete your account does not give you ownership of, or necessarily remove, independent third-party recipe content.
We use safeguards such as encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and access controls. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Do not include sensitive personal information in public reviews or recipe submissions.
9. Children and changes to this statement
Recipehutch is not designed for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to the service, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
We may update this statement when features or data practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision. Additional notice or consent will be provided where required by applicable law.
